About Me
Greetings, My Name is Louis Nieves and I was born in New York City and raised in the Bronx. Since childhood I always had an interest in Art. I drew at every opportunity.
My formal training began at the State University in Binghamton New York S.U.N.Y. I later attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City where I earned my Bachelors degree in Illustration. I exhibited locally while working a full time job.
Artist Statement
What matters to me are those singular and shared experiences that we may not remember the same way. This when time stands still for me. I get out and walk around the subject where I live that moment again or just observe it
My inspiration started as a kid daydreaming and drawing pictures of the teacher. This would often get me into trouble.After constant practice I would draw fairly good likenesses of people and things. I mostly drew cartoons and characters. My later influences were the love of oil painting. I especially enjoyed the impressionists from Europe and the United states. I tend to borrow from many genres
